1401877 Releasable fastenings H M HASSON 8 Dec 1972 [17 Dec 1971] 56869/72 Heading E2A [Also in Division A5] A fastener comprises tie strips 36 for coupling adhesive tapes 10 and 14; the tape 10 carries tie strip anchors 16 and the tape 14 carries tie strip slides 18 having slots for receiving tie strips; the tie strip slides are provided with locking tabs 28 adapted to cooperate with the tie strips. Each tie strip slide comprises parallel sides 20 and 22, upper cross-members 24 and 26 and lower crossmembers (33) and (34), Fig. 3 (not shown). In use a tie strip is inserted through a tie strip anchor and through a tie strip slide; pressure is applied against a member 40 which is affixed to the tie strip and has a stop 41 for engagement with an end 42 of the tie strip anchor. A pivotal portion 32 of the locking tab 28 forms a pawl which engages with teeth 38 on the tie strip to provide a ratchet. Cross-members 24 and (33) cooperate to form the tie strip into a generally S-shape. The respective embodiments of Figs. 4, 5 and 6, (not shown) are provided with means to aid the alignment and spacing of the tapes: in the embodiment of Fig. 4 the tapes (10') and (14') carry integral aligning pointers (44) and (46) respectively; in the embodiment of Fig. 5 the tapes (10") and (14") are bridged by an integral spacing strip (48); and in the embodiment of Fig. 6 a transparent non- adhesive strip (50) is removably attached to the tapes (10"') and (14"'). In the embodiment of Fig. 6 (not shown), a perforated tear line (54) is provided for separating the desired amount of fastener from a roll.
