Abstract

1401550 Deodorising air using fumarates CIBA-GEIGY AG 11 July 1973 [12 July 1972] 33077/73 Heading A5E A method of deodorising air having an unpleasant odor, comprises the step of dispersing in said air a dialkylfumarate of which the alkyl groups each contain at most 3 carbon atoms or a dialkenylfumarate of which the alkenyl groups each contain 2 or 3 carbon atoms or a mixture of such compounds as a deodorant in an amount sufficient for destroying said unpleasant odour. The deodorant fumarate may be dispersed in combination with at least one further deodorant selected from an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic olefinically unsaturated alcohol or ester or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic aldehyde, said further deodorant having a vapour pressure at 25‹C in the range of 0.001 to 3.5 Torr. Other ingredients which may be included are perfumes, stabilisers, antioxidants, dyestuffs, carriers and solvents. The description contains a reference to Specification 969347.
