Abstract
1401473 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems; automatic control of movement INSTITUTE FOR INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH & STANDARDS and J M M STIRLING 8 Sept 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 41874/72 Headings G3N and G3P [Also in Division B7] A platform 1, Figs. 1 and 2, is mounted in an ambulance to tilt about an axis 2 in response to lateral forces during cornering and to be raised and lowered in response to motion of the floor 4. Tilting is controlled by a sensor 6, such as a pendulum, connected to an actuator 3 through a control 5 while an inertial transducer 8 on the vehicle floor and a transducer 9 to determine the mean height of the platform 1 control an actuator 7. A pendulum is rigidly connected to the platform to control movement about a horizontal axis at right angles to the axis 2. Fig. 3 shows an actuator 12 controlled by a valve 28 responsive to signal pressure at a port 15, the movement of the actuator being fed back to the valve through a cam 27, lever 25 and spring 24. Height control may be effected by a bellows 1, Fig. 7, having electromagnetically controlled inlet and outlet valves 41, 43 connected through a control circuit 49 and a comparator 47 to an electrical height control 48, a pressure transducer 50, and a height transducer 45 with a delay 46. Fig. 8 shows the table 62 pivotally connected at 63, 65 to a frame 66 mounted on roller 68 and bars 69 for vertical movement by a piston-rod 74 through a cable 76.
