Abstract

1401459 Conveying articles to an operating position ELECTRIC POWER STORAGE Ltd 13 Dec 1973 [15 Dec 1972] 58180/72 Heading B8A Conveyer apparatus for presenting a series of articles 20 to an operating position comprises an endless conveyer 11, means for arresting each article 20 at a position 17 below the operating position 18, and a lift 30 which is raised to lift the article to the operating position and then lower the article back to the conveyer, the lift 30 being provided with guide surfaces which centre the article. The lift may be raised by a ram 40 acting via a toggle-linkage 42, 43 or by a ram (50, Fig. 4) connected directly to the base of the lift. The article arresting means may comprise a mechanism for stopping the articles whilst the conveyer is running, or may comprise a photo-cell operative to stop the conveyer when an article reaches the position 17.
