Abstract

1412700 Conveyers &c. CRISPLANT AS 5 June 1974 [4 June 1973] 26459/73 Heading B8A A series of articles in mutual touching disposition on a conveyer 2, are transferred to a conveyer 8 to proceed with a given spacing X between each article. When an article tips off from conveyer 2 to conveyer 8, a photo sensor 14 (Fig. 3) detects the wedge shaped gap which develops between the article and its following article. The conveyer 2 is then stopped until a timer of another photo sensor senses the distance X between the two articles. Instead of stopping the conveyer 2, the articles may be subject to the presence of a stop member. Instead of the article toppling off under gravity (Fig. 3), it may be deflected in any given direction by a transfer member.
