Abstract
1401123 Fibre-tipped pens E KREUZER 16 Feb 1973 [21 Feb 1972] 7804/73 Heading A4K [Also in Division B6] A fibre-tipped pen comprises a first ink reservoir 3 communicating with the tip 2, and a reserve ink reservoir 5 the contents of which can be discharged into the first reservoir by an actuating element which by its displacement indicates that the reservoir is in use. The slidable element may comprise a push pin 7 or an element advanced by a rotary action. The first reservoir 3 comprises a wick. The reserve reservoir may also comprise a wick as shown, the push pin 7 urging the reserve wick 5 into contact with the first wick 3 to permit capillary transfer of the ink. In an alternative embodiment a reserve wick (5), Fig.2 (not shown), is compressed by the push pin (7) to release the ink therein. In a second alternative embodiment, the reserve reservoir comprises a pressurized pad (10), Fig.3 (not shown), which is punctured by depression of the push pin (7) to release the ink therein. The push pin is held against inadvertent depression either by a forcibly deformable collar 8 or by cementing the push pin 7 to the element 6 in which it is mounted.
