Abstract
1400895 Automatic control of micro-wave heating CANADIAN PATENTS AND DEVELOPMENT Ltd 27 June 1973 30535/73 Heading G3R [Also in Divisions H1 and H5] Micro-wave heating apparatus, for treating thin webs or filamentary material, includes a main waveguide connecting a micro-wave source to a load, and a tuning arrangement for automatically optimizing power transfer. Sensing probes attached to the main waveguide feed signals to a control circuit which adjusts tuning stubs in branch waveguides spaced along the main waveguide. As shown, a waveguide 8 connected between a micro-wave source 1 and heater 2 has branches 10, 12, 14 in which are located variable short circuit tuning stubs # 1 , # 2 , # 3 . The stubs are adjusted by control circuits 30, 32 including differential amplifiers, Fig. 8 (not shown), in response to signals produced by probes 16-19, 20, 22.
