Abstract

1400455 Selective hydrogenation of aromatics BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 5 Dec 1972 [21 Jan 1972] 2942/72 Heading C5E Aromatics in a petroleum distillate boiling within the gasoline range are selectively hydrogenated by contacting in the presence of hydrogen and at a temperature of 150-400‹ C. with a catalyst comprising 0À1-5 wt. per cent of platinum, alumina and, initially 4 to 15 wt. per cent fluorine. The feedstocks treated can contain 5-25 wt. per cent aromatics and up to 1300 p.p.m. by weight of sulphur. The feed can be hydrodesulphurized before the selective dearomatization.
