Abstract

1400439 Electromagnets; electromagnetic relays LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO Ltd 17 Oct 1972 [8 Dec 1971] 56919/71 Headings H1P and H1N An electromagnet, e.g. for cutout relays and switching voltage regulators, comprises a core 1 and extension 2 riveted to a metal baseplate 3 over a washer 4; a frame 5 supporting an armature (not shown) being spaced a predetermined distance from the free end of the core. An insulant layer 6 is disposed between frame 5 and baseplate 3. A moulded plastic former 7 wound with coil 8 surrounds core 1 and has annular flange 9 of predetermined thickness overlying the free end of the core and is flanged at the other end and spaced from frame 5 so that the former is supported by portion 9 resting on the core, which facilitates quick armature release on demagnetization.
