Abstract

1400114 Suction cleaners; suction cleaners with seats and stools MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 10 Sept 1973 [12 Sept 1972] 42545/73 Headings A4F and A4H [Also in Division B 1] A suction cleaner has a housing 9 containing a fan 2, Fig. 8 (not shown) and a dust collector 4, which is removable from the housing 9 by a substantially horizontal movement through a side wall, and a cover 5 for placing on the housing 9 when the apparatus is not in use, the cover 5 enclosing means, e.g. a top plate 11, for storing flexible hose, and being provided with a seat 6 so that the cleaner, or the cover 5 only, may be used as a stool or foot stool. The housing 9 also contains an electric cable reel 26 having a winding spring 28 and formed with a gear 29 meshing with a pinion 30 coupled via a dog clutch 31, 32 with gearing driving a crank 19 for shaking a fine dust filter 18 covering an outlet opening of the dust collector 4. A coarse dust filter 17 surrounds the filter 18. A suction hose 12, Fig. 6 (not shown) incorporating electric conductors is fitted into an opening 15 in the dust collector 4 and has a fan motor control switch at its free end. An upstanding wall 35 on the top plate 11 has mounted thereon a carrying handle 40 for the cleaner, and the inside of the cover 5 has mounting brackets for suction tools and an extension pipe.
