Abstract

1400018 Vehicle panelling SCHUITEMAKER PATENTS SA 12 June 1972 [12 June 1971 (2)] 27276/72 Heading B7B A vehicle side or rear panel is profiled from a single plate, the upper and lower longitudinal edges being rolled over to extend against the inside of the panel. As shown in Fig. 1, the steel panel 1 is secured by bolts 3 to a support 4 hinged to a loading platform of a car. The lips 6 of bent over sections 2, 2<SP>1</SP> are preferably secured to the part 7 by spot welding. In a modification, Fig. 2, an intermediate section 9 has lugs 10 for attaching a tarpaulin thereto. Vertical or horizontal support sections (13), Fig. 3 (not shown) may be connected to the panel by spot or seam welds for rigidity. In a further modification, Fig. 4, a section 14 of polyvinyl chloride is bonded to the panel between the sections 2, 2<SP>1</SP> or as in Fig. 6, the space between a covering plastics layer 19 and the panel is filled with a plastics foam 20.
