Abstract

1399500 Electro-deposition of platinum and/ or iridium RHONE-PROGIL 1 Dec 1972 [2 Dec 1971] 55651/72 Heading C7B Platinum and/or iridium are electro-deposited from an aqueous bath containing bromo iridic and/ or bromoplatinic anions; nitric, sulphuric, perchloric or bromic acid; and optionally ammonium and/or alkali metal cations. Periodic or continuous removal of bromide ions, e.g. by chemical or electro-chemical oxidation thereof to form bromine which is removed by bubbling through of gas; and of cations, e.g. by use of ionexchange resin, may take place. The substrate may be of Ti, Zr, Nb, Ta, W to form an anode for electro-chemical use.
