Abstract

1398757 Ignition systems H R SARIN 9 Nov 1972 [10 Nov 1971] 51797/72 Heading F1B An ignition system comprises a current source 22, a circuit including a starter motor 24 in series with the current source, first switch means 18 for connecting the current source to the starter motor, a second circuit connected across the current source in parallel with the motor including second switch means 25, a first transformer primary winding 12, a second transformer primary winding 27 of lesser resistance and fewer turns than the first primary winding and a secondary transformer winding and a current interrupting device 15 in series therewith, the second switching means 25 being adapted to connect a selected one of the first or second primary windings into the circuit. The second switch means 25 may be a push button switch or alternatively a solenoid connected to the starter motor solenoid may control switching in of the second primary winding.
