Abstract

1398268 Plastics windows; partitions UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 31 Oct 1972 [1 Nov 1971] 50745/71 Headings E1B and E1R A window is made by securing a transparent, heat-shrinkable, plastics film 17 or 18 to a frame and uniformly heating the film so that it shrinks until all wrinkles are removed. The window may be formed in a partition panel comprising a core 12 of craft paper honeycomb material sandwiched between laminated plastics sheets 13, 14 and a peripheral plywood frame 15, 16. The plywood is impregnated with resin and subsequently cured. Wooden reinforcement beams may be provided instead of some of the core 12. A plastics tube 21 divides the window aperture in half. The partition may be used e.g. in hospitals. The film is of "Melinex" (Registered Trade Mark).
