Abstract

Two sheets (2) of rigid transparent plastic form the case (1) and are joined by hinges to give a central fold, the opposite edges having a catch (4) for closing. At each corner, between the sheets, is a wedge, these allowing for the thickness of a folded chart inserted between them. Corner wedges (6a) on the outside prevent damage to the plastic surfaces when the case is in use. A square grid (5) is engraved on each sheet and provisions made for logarithmic scales and a course calculator (10). The complete unit fits into a plastic wallet (11) which has carrying handles (12) and pockets (13, 14) for the instruments.
