Abstract
1398224 Ultrasonic probes; piezoelectric devices KRAUTKRAMER GmbH 28 Feb 1973 [1 March 1972] 9775/73 Heading H4J A connector unit 11 for coupling a cable 10 of an ultrasonic instrument (not shown) to a crystal unit 12 employing, e.g. a piezo-electric element 18 of barium titanate, includes an induction coil 14 embedded in epoxy resin, the connector unit being formed such that the coil 14 can be brought into close proximity with a similar induction coil 15 carried by the crystal unit. A ferrite core 16 may be provided for coil 15. The housings 11a, 12a have a peripheral flange 20 to enable them to be clamped together and an 0-ring seal 23 of rubber or plastics material is provided. The housings may be of metal or plastics material. The coils 14, 15 are tuned to the test frequency of the probe. In place of the clamping arrangement the two parts may be provided with screw threads for connecting the parts together.
