Abstract

1397860 Welding by fusion CHEMETRON CORP 10 Dec 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 57131/73 Heading B3R [Also in Division F2] In order to install a bellows (e.g. a two-ply bellows 60, 62) about pipework (28, 30) without disassembling it, each ply of the bellows is split longitudinally into two semi-cylindrical shells 62a, 62b, which are rejoined about the pipework, by welding. A welding tape 68 may be used to back-up the weld 66. A wire mesh 70 ensures that fluid can flow between the plies of the bellows.
