Abstract
1397857 Punching LIPE ROLLWAY CORP 14 Nov 1973 [14 Nov 1972] 52877/73 Heading B3W [Also in Division B8] A punch press 10 has a bolster plate 11, a female die 12 close above the bolster plate 11 and a discharge conveyer comprising a feed strip 16 extending under the female die 12 above the bolster plate 11 and supported on inclined springs 17, the strip 16 being covered on its upper surface with pile material having flexible filaments 26 uniformly inclined by 5-25 degrees from a line normal to the surface of the strip 16 towards discharge end 18. The filaments 26 have uniform length and thickness and a sufficient density so that only their tips support objects discharged from the female die 12 of the punch press 10. A vibrator 20 is connected to the bottom of the strip 16 by a drive bracket 19. The filaments 26 are sufficiently resilient to flex under the objects during upward movement of the strip 16 when vibrated to increase the feeding speed and force of the strip 16 in moving the objects out of the punch press 10. In a modification, Fig. 3, (not shown), a vibrator (21) is pneumatic and drives a ball (22) in an orbit in a housing (21) to vibrate the feed strip 16. Guide rails 24 keep objects on the top surface of the strip 16. A jam-up or pile-up of parts may be detected by micro-switches (32) or (53), Figs. 2 and 5 (not shown), which operate to switch off the punch press 10 to prevent damage. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,321,191.
