Abstract

1397576 Preparation of amines using an hydrogenation catalyst RHONE-POULENC SA 12 Dec 1972 [13 Dec 1971] 57334/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C7] A hydrogenation catalyst is made by treating with a base a powdered alloy comprising :- Cr 0À2-1À8%; Fe 1À5-5%; Ni 22-43%; the balance, apart from incidental elements and impurities, being Al. Examples describe the use of the catalyst for hydrogenating adiponitrile to produce hexamethylene diamine, 1-amino-2- cyano-1-cyclopentene to give 2-aminoethylcyclopentylamine and isophthalodinitrile to give 1,3-bis-(aminoethyl)-benzene.
