Abstract

1397381 Pharmaceutical bases YAMANOUCHI PHARMACEUTICAL CO LTD 4 Jan 1973 [19 Jan 1972] 617/73 Heading A5B Solid compositions for use as suppository, troche, buccal tablet and chewable tablet bases are prepared by heating to above 70‹C a mixture of 5-40% by weight calcium lactate, 10-75% by weight water-soluble mono- or poly-saccharide or sugar alcohol e.g. sorbitol, mannitol, fructose, sucrose, glucose or dextrin, and 20-50% by weight water and cooling to form a solid composition. A preferred composition is prepared from calcium lactate e.g. the penta-hydrate, sucrose and water. A medicament (e.g. josamycin, clofibrate, chloroamphenicol or indomethacin), a colouring agent, a flavouring agent, a perfuming agent, a diluent, and/or a surface active agent may be added to the composition.
