Abstract

1397237 A.C. power distribution networks GORKOVSKOE OTDELENIE VSESOJUZNOGO GOSUDARSTVENNOGO PROEKTNO - IZYSKATELSKOGO INAUCHNOISSLEDOVATELSKOGO INSTITUTA ENERGOSETPROEKT 27 Feb 1974 8806/74 Heading H2H An A.C. power distribution network comprises two bus-bar sections 1, 2 having feeder and service lines 4, 6 and 5, 7 respectively connected thereto, the sections 1, 2 being interconnected by a sectionalizing switch 3 and a quick-acting switch 13, the switch 13 having an intrinsic make time of 0À1 second or less. In normal operation the sectionalizing switch 3 is closed but the switch 13 open so that each bus-bar section 1, 2 operates independently. Should a fault occur, as at K in feeder 4, the switch 13 closes so that both bus-bar sections 1, 2 are fed by the feeder 5. The system is of advantage when the loads 12 on the sections 1, 2 are electric motors, such that the motors 12 on the section 1 do not fall out of synchronism before the switch 13 closes.
