Abstract

1396790 Strain taking device for flexible leads BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDERS CABLES Ltd 25 May 1973 [26 May 1972] 25049/72 Heading H2E A casing 1 for an electric fitting comprises a single body 2 of insulating material, with two integral parts 7 associated with a cable entry opening 3 in a wall of the body for gripping the cable between them to reduce the risk of cable tension being imparted to an electrical connection of the cable within the casing 1. One or both of the parts 7 may as in the figure shown be a fin(s) projecting inwardly from the wall which resiliently pushes the cable towards the other part 7. Their free ends 8 are on opposite sides of the cable entry axis. There may be barbs or projections 9 which bite into or distort the cable when tension is applied to it from outside. The body 2 may be of moulded nylon or other tough plastic. The electrical fitting may be a 3 pin plug as shown, or a socket. The casing shown has two holes 5, for a screw securing a tapped coverplate, and recesses 6 accommodating terminals for the cable conductors.
