1396699 Joint-making packing; pipe joints COWIE SCIENTIFIC Ltd 6 June 1972 [18 June 1971 (2)] 28626/71 and 28684/71 Headings F2B and F2G A sleeve gasket of a fluorinated hydrocarbon polymer for making a seal in a push fit glassware joint is provided with one or more circumferential sealing ribs 5 of triangular, square, rounded or trapezoidal cross-section and has a wall thickness of less than 1À5 mm. may be made of a fluorinated alkene (e.g. PTFE) or a fluorinated chlorinated alkene polymer and formed as a hollow cylinder or a frusto-cone having a half cone angle of 2‹52', the wall thickness being 0À1 to 1 mm. The sealing ribs 5 may be provided on one or both sides of the sleeve wall. The sleeve may be provided with a stop shoulder 7, an arcuate locating rib 4 and a knurled portion 3 on a handling flange.
