Abstract

139,653. Blott, F. G., and Friend, H. April 4, 1919. Cutting and slicing vegetables, &c. -A machine for slicing orange and lemon peel for making marmalade, or for like purposes, comprises mechanical means for feeding the material into the feed end of a feedbox and also through the feed-box to the cutting means. As shown, material fed into a hopper 2 passes by a flap 26<a> and a reciprocated slide 29 to a feed trough, the bottom of which is composed of a feed belt 3. This and an upper belt 7 feed the material to a box 12 having a number of toothed members 17 working in slots in its bottom, these members moving in an approximately elliptical path so as to move forward above the floor of the box and backward below the floor. The cutter may comprise a wheel on which are mounted knives 15. The box 12 may have a glass top.
