Abstract

1395832 Electron tube holders AMERICAN PLASTICRAFT CO 15 May 1973 23191/73 Heading H2E An electron tube socket comprises a plurality of contacts 18 adapted to connect with pins of the tube each attached to a respective conductive arm 40 which includes a spark gap 52. Each contact 18 has a bifurcated spring end, is connected to a resistor 27 by a wire 26 and to its arm 40 by a welded plug 51 which is held within an insulating base 13 fitted with a cap (14). The spark gaps 52 are formed by shearing the arms after assembly in the base and separating the sheared edges 54a, 56 to provide the required size gap at which sparking is initiated, subsequent sparking extending to between surfaces 60, 58. Each arm 40 is connected to a conductive ring 39 held in an annular groove 38 of the base 13 by studs 42. Venting holes 59 in base 13 adjacent the gaps for dissipation of spark gases.
