Abstract

1395813 Supplying degassed fuel to fuel tanks SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 2 May 1972 20356/72 Heading B1M A method of supplying a degassed fuel to the fuel tank(s) of a vehicle or aircraft from a source of pumped liquid fuel containing dissolved gas comprises introducing the pumped fuel e.g. at 1.5-15 atm absolute, through spraying means into a chamber in which a spray is created as a result of the pressure of the incoming fuel, maintaining the chamber under reduced pressure, e.g. 0.25-25 cm Hz, by the continuous removal of gas therefrom by pumping, and pumping degassed liquid fuel from the chamber into the tank(s). Apparatus for carrying out the method is also claimed. The mean droplet diameter in the spray may be 100-1000 Ám.
