Abstract

1395725 Conveying rotary motion BEASLEY FRENCH & CO Ltd 29 Sept 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 46481/71 Heading F2K A crank mechanism comprises an input shaft 10 on which is a disc 12 having a diametrically extending slot 16 in which a block 22 is slidable, the block being pivoted through a pin 24 to a bracket 26 having a pin journalled in a crank arm 30 connected to an output shaft 32. Cyclic variation of the rate of rotation of shaft 32 is effected by having the axes of the shafts 10, 32 offset. The axes of the shafts may also be inclined with respect to one another, this being permitted due to the depth of slot 16. Another slider-crank mechanism having a slot 18 and slider 34, but 180 degrees out of phase with respect to the first mechanism, is provided to counterbalance shaft 10. The mechanism may be used in the transmission to a cutting knife for cutting a web.
