Abstract

1395437 Coating apparatus PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES LTD 18 June 1973 [21 June 1972] 28845/73 Heading B2L Powder is deposited on the inside of a lamp envelope 1 by the steps of transporting it through a duct 2 to a nozzle by means of a gas stream and electrostatically accelerating it into the envelope, then interrupting the flow of powder whilst maintaining the gas flow to clean out the duct after each envelope is coated. Heaters 3 are provided to pre-heat the envelope which is rotated during coating and a potential difference is applied between the duct 2 and heaters 3. An injector 8 draws powder from a container 7 and the powder supply can be cut off by moving the injector. The injector 8 (Fig 2) has an entry 12 for powder in container 7 arid by moving the injector downwardly the entry 12 can be closed. Other forms of injector arrangements are described.
