Abstract
Coating a series of blanks of glass or other transparent material, by (a) loading a series of cleaned blanks at the inlet end of a housing enclosing a series of treating stations, (b) transporting the blanks through the housing past these stations, (c) bombarding the surface of the blanks to cause them to react with gases to displace particles from the molecular interstices of the bombarded surfaces, (d) depositing a metal film on these surfaces by electro-magnetic discharge so that a molecular bond is produced in the interstices, and (e) depositing a protective surface on the film. The deposited layer may be of any desired thickness and colour.
