1395351 Lubricating GREASE APPLIANCE CO Ltd 22 June 1973 [5 July 1972] 31341/72 Heading F2A Apparatus for distributing oil intermittently under pressure comprises a plurality of units mounted on an oil supply pipe connected to a pump, each unit being adapted to supply a predetermined charge of oil at each operation of the pump. Each unit 1 is cylindrical and contains a floating valve in the form of a cup washer 2 with a projecting lip 2a and a head 4 to engage a bore 5 in a piston valve 6 reciprocating in the cylinder. The piston valve comprises a cylindrical member 6a provided with a sleeve 7 carrying a sealing ring 8 and spring-loaded with respect to a flange 11 carried by the cylindrical member. The unit is formed with a ring 12 so that it can be threaded on to the oil supply pipe. The pipe is formed wth annular grooves each having a hole communicating with the bore in the pipe to allow oil to pass to each unit. In operation, oil enters the unit on a pressure stroke of the pump, and passes the floating valve 2 to fill the space below the sealing ring 8 and compress the spring 10 (Fig. 2). When the pressure drops, the valve 2 closes, and the oil in the unit is forced down the bore 5 in the piston valve and into the space above the sealing ring (Fig. 3). On the next pressure stroke, the oil is delivered through the bore in the cap 1a. The cylinder unit and cap are injection mouldings of nylon.
