Abstract

1395048 Feeding and delivering sheets EASTMAN KODAK CO 11 May 1972 [15 May 1971] 22184/72 Heading B8B A stacking and unstacking device for flexible cards 17 (e.g. aperture cards-see Figs. 2, 3, and 4-not shown) comprises a card transport channel 6, a stacking chamber 1 disposed in the channel and communicating therewith through openings 2a and 3a, first means (e.g. transport rollers 9 and 11 and counter pressure rollers 10 and 12) arranged to support the stack with each card inclined to a plane intersecting openings 2a and 2b and second means (e.g. positioning members 13, 14, 15 and 16) operable to deflect the ends of the stack towards and away from the adjacent openings 2a and 2b. Thus electromagnetically operated positioning member 15 displaces the rear edge of the stack one card thickness as a fresh card enters chamber 1 and transport roller 11 rotates anticlockwise to move the card across the stack. Both positioning members 15 and 16 are then retracted in directions C and D respectively. The roller 10 is held electromagnetically in a retracted position whilst electromagnetically operated pusher 14 retains the front edge of the stack away from the path of the card as it traverses the chamber. A guide 14a intercepts the front edge of the card and aligns it with the stack. A card entering from the other side of the chamber will be stacked in a manner similar to that described above but with the roles of the components reversed. Support roller 12 is also electromagnetically retractable for this purpose. Feeding sheets.-The device may be employed to feed cards from the stack in either direction by utilizing either roller 9 or roller 11 as a friction separator. The biasing means 14 and 16 respectively then serving to align the endmost sheet of the stack with a respective supply channel.
