Abstract

139,485. Benjamin Electric Manufacturing Co., (Assignees of Harlow, C. B.). March 3, 1915, [Convention date]. Press-button switches. -The dome-shaped cover 12 constitutes the operating member of a pressbutton retractive switch in which the circuit may be closed by pressure at any point of the cover. The cover has secured to it, by a rivet 33 and intermediate insulation, an annular cupped flange plate 36 which is normally held beneath the flanged edge 30 of the casing 11 by the movable spring contact 21 which is fixed at one end to the base 10 by the rivet 16, which also secures one of the terminal plates beneath the base. Pressure upon the cover at its central point moves the cover axially inwards and brings the spring contact into engagement with another rivet contact 16 connected to the external circuit. With pressure at a point at the side of the cover, the flange plate 36 is tilted and similarly depresses the contact 21.
