1394556 Windscreen wipers KNORRBREMSE GmbH 17 May 1973 [26 May 1972] 23677/73 Heading A4F [Also in Division F1] A windscreen wiper drive mechanism, e.g. comprising a fluid-operated motor having pistons 1 inter-connected by a rack 2 engaging a pinion segment 3, imparts rotary oscillations to a shaft 4 coupled with a windscreen wiper blade (not shown) and to damping means e.g. a shock absorber 9, which damps the oscillations, the damping being least when the blade is in its middle position and greater the nearer the blade is to its extreme positions of oscillation. The variable damping is achieved by pivotally connecting the shock transmitting part of the shock absorber 9 to radial arm 5 rigid with the shaft 4, and connecting the shock receiving part to a fixed pivot 10.
