1394433 Cleaning inking apparatus HENRY SIMON Ltd 7 Aug 1973 [15 Aug 1972] 37978/72 Heading B6C A printing machine comprises a duct formed between two rollers 10, 11, an ink supply 15 from which ink is pumped to the duct, a tray 19 where surplus ink collects for return to the supply and washing means by which ink lines 13, 20, the duct and the tray 19 may be flushed with a washing liquid such as water with a detergent. Interchangeable ink supply units and pumps may be removably connected to the lines 13, 20. Preferably ink pump 16 is operated at one speed as it supplies ink during printing and at a second, higher speed as it circulates washing liquid.
