Range-finders; micrometer systems.-To avoid the creation of parallax between the image plane and the plane of the measuring marks, adjustment of the registering device acts also to connect the image plane. The shiftable registering device can be a traversing prism 8 or may comprise two equal prisms rotating equally in opposite senses. As shown, the prism 8 is rigidly connected to a wedge 5 which traverses, as the prism moves, in front of the equal and opposite wedges 4 on the inner faces of which are the measuring marks. In this way, a parallel-sided plate of varying thickness is arranged in front of the eyepieces. In modifications, additional lenses form the adjusting-devices,
