Abstract

1394131 Ripple control receiver LANDIS & GYR AG 19 July 1972 [26 July 1971] 33832/72 Heading H4G In a ripple control receiver, a control order comprising start bits (e.g. LLO), address bits LOLLOO, -L-), an order bit (A), and a confimation bit (L), is compared bit by bit with a code stored in the receiver, the control indicated by the order bit A only being effected if the rest of the control order is identical to the stored code. Receipt of the start bit at a filter 37, Fig. 3, causes a differentiating circuit 51 to reset a flip-flop 55, thus starting a clock 39 which feeds a ring counter 41. The outputs 45 of counter 41 are selectively connected in accordance with the stored code with output lines 42-44: the signals on 42-44 are sequentially compared with the incoming signal at gates 48-50. If the incoming and stored bits "A" agree, then an output 56 from gate 50 sets a flip-flop 57 to change its output from 59 (no agreement), to 58, the output 58 or 59 controlling a master switch 63. If any of the control code start, address or confirmation bits differ from the stored bits on 42, 43 then gate 48 or 49 is enabled and flip-flop 55 is set; this stops 39 and resets the apparatus; otherwise, a pulse 46 from 41 opens gates 60, 61 for output 58 or 59. Finally, a pulse 47 causes flip-flop 55 to reset the apparatus. In the embodiment of Fig. 5, incoming pulses are stored in a shift register 75. The order of bits A are compared by means of a diode 86, a signal on lead 87 giving rise to a "1" signal for switch 63 at output 31 or 32 of a gating circuit 29. Diodes 82, 84 co-operate with resistors 88, 89 to provide signals 83, 85 which block circuit 29 if any of the other bit comparisons should be unsuccessful. The embodiments may be augmented for the processing of multiple command signals (Fig. 4, not shown), and the start bit may alternatively be a double length bit.
