1394050 Cycloalkanoquinolonecarboxylic esters BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 13 Feb 1973 [19 Feb 1972] 38798/74 Divided out of 1387376 Addition to 1210638 Heading C2C The invention comprises the specific compounds of formula in which R<SP>1</SP> 1 is H, R<SP>1</SP> 2 -R<SP>1</SP> 3 is -(CH 2 ) n - and (i) Y = OMe, X<SP>1</SP> = Et, n = 3, (ii) Y = OEt, X<SP>1</SP> = MeCH : CH, n = 3, (iii) Y = OEt, X<SP>1</SP> = Pr, n = 3, and (iv) Y = OMe, X<SP>1</SP> = Pr, n = 4; also described are the corresponding known compounds where (v) Y = OEt, R = Et, n = 3, and (vi) Y = OPr, R = Et, n = 3. These compounds are prepared by esterification and/or N-substitution. Therapeutic compositions comprise at least one of the compounds (i)-(vi), above, which are said to be active against gram negative and gram positive microorganisms, and especially suitable for urinary tract infections. The compositions may be administered enterally or parenterally.
