Abstract
1393441 Sheet-collators; feeding sheets GENERAL BINDING CORP 10 April 1972 16442/72 Heading B8R Sheets are separated simultaneously from a plurality of piles 12, Figs. 1 and 3, on sloping trays 11 by reciprocating feet 13, and are each fed to the nip between a driven roller 14 and a plurality of larger diameter idler rollers 15, Figs. 1, 3, and 4, then being passed between all further such forwardly actuated nips to a tray 18 over which pass two endless belts 17. The rollers 15 are horizontally adjustable by means of bars 31 so as to direct the sheets accurately to the successive nips. A sheet bearing the last nip is directed so that its centre portion passes over and rotates a freely rotatable roller 23, while its edge portions are bowed downwards 'by arms 20, Figs. 1, 3, 4 and 5, of a pivoted deflector. The sheet then abuts a gate 19 and rebound is prevented by the mounting 24 of the roller 23. When the stack on the tray 18 is complete, the gate 19 is lowered by a cam 26 and the belts 17 move the stack on to a tray 25, after a device 10 has stapled the sheets of the stack together. Side guides 41 define the side edges of the stack.
