Abstract

1393137 Collapsible boats A J DEAR 11 Sept 1973 [13 June 1972] 27577/72 Heading B7A A tent 24 and inflatable buoyancy units 21, 22 are detachable from a base structure formed of two parts 13, 14 which, after inward sliding of decks 17, 18, 19, 20, can be folded about the transverse centre line of the boat to a box form for carrying on a trailer. The trailer may have an extensible part 70 to allow the boat to be unfolded on the trailer. Each part of the box structure is formed by inner and outer mouldings (30, 31), Fig. 4 (not shown), and the buoyancy units are secured to it by straps which also hold the decks in their extended positions. The decks are connected to the base structure parts by pivoted links (50) which guide the inner edges of the decks during retraction. Projections (45) on the base structure parts extend through flanges at the outer edges of the decks when the latter are retracted. The decks are held in their retracted positions by placing pegs through openings in the projections. Sockets in the decks receive the tent frame.
