Abstract

1392370 Window operating mechanism TELEFLEX LTD 15 May 1973 [15 May 1972] 22730/72 Heading E2M In a device for opening and closing a vent cover in the form of a casement window 1 pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis (not shown) or a fixed frame 2, a worm and worm wheel actuator unit 9 is adapted to be mounted on the frame and is in driving connection with one end of a swinging arm 4 pivotally connected at its other end at 5 to a further swinging arm pivotally attached to the window 1. The worm 13 and worm wheel 14 of the actuator unit 9 are actuated by means of a cord arrangement 20 which engages a cord wheel 16 drivingly engaged with the worm shaft 17 through a dog clutch 18. The cord wheel 16 is double grooved at 19 and the cord arrangement 20 is anchored within the hub of the wheel, which is slotted to enable passage into the groove wheel periphery, run horizontally to and through a corner bollard 21 affixed to the fixed frame 2 and then down through the mullion. In an alternative arrangement (Figs 5 and 6, not shown) a finger grip control instead of a cord control is provided in which the cable wheel (25) is housed in a cover and means for adjustment is provided. As shown in Fig 1 a slave actuator unit 9a with associated arm means is provided and connected through a shaft 16A with the master actuator unit.
