Abstract

1392031 Anchoring means LUNWEB (PRODUCTS) Ltd 14 April 1972 [14 Jan 1971 14 June 1971 16 Sept 1971] 1951/71 27780/71 and 43274/71 Heading F2H A fixing device for use in autoclaved aerated concrete comprises a shank 1 having a portion 3 formed of a plurality of longitudinal sections 4, 5 each of which are part-annular in cross-section, and a pilot member 7 having a narrow leading end and a wider part rearward of the leading end which is at least as wide as the leading portion of the shank 1. The device is capable of being driven into the concrete in two stages. Initially, concussive drive is applied to the shank 1 and to the member 7, either directly (as shown), or indirectly via the shank 1 (Figs. 4-6, not shown), the member 7 punching a hole for itself and the shank 1. In a second stage the drive is applied to the shank I, the sections 4, 5 splaying around the member 7 which is wedged between them. The device may be applied by initially forming a hole in the concrete and then applying drive solely to the shank. In a further embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5), the shank is inserted in a two-part member, one-part, the pilot member, initially friction fitting into the other until forced off at the second stage when a flange on the two-part member engages the concrete surface. In a further embodiment (Fig. 6), the shank is provided with a washer which prevents splaying thereof until moved away from the pilot member by the concrete surface.
