Abstract

1392023 Recovery of metal values RIEDELDEHAEN AG 19 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 13053/73 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] Metals may be selectively removed from solutions, complexes, colloids and fine suspensions by adsorption on a material consisting of a cellulosic matrix to which is ionically bound a selective metal-binding reagent. In some instances this removal permits the quantitative estimation of the metal in its source, either by measurement of the length of a coloured band on a column of the adsorbent, or by election after adsorption and then by use of conventional techniques such as photometry. A list of suitable reagents and the metals they select for is given. The examples illustrate the isolation and determination of Fe, Be, Co, Mg, Pb and simultaneously, Ti, Va and Fe which separate into coloured bands on a column of the adsorbent.
