Abstract
1391866 Sulphuric acid AE & CI Ltd 25 Oct 1973 [1 Nov 1972] 49687/73 Heading C1A In the manufacture of sulphuric acid by the contact process in a dual conversion, dual absorption plant, hot gaseous fluid is admitted directly to the process gas stream at a point immediately adjacent the exit of the process gas stream from the primary absorber 10 to admix with and increase the temperature of the process gas stream. The hot gaseous fluid may be hot dried air, suitably heated by exchange with hot process gases, or hot process gas derived from a point upstream of the converter 8, preferably immediately after the sulphur burner 6 or immediately after the waste heat boiler 7. In apparatus as shown, hot process gas is ducted from point 1 immediately after the sulphur burner 6 and flows through conduit 2 via flow control means 2 to be admitted at point 4 to the process gas stream leaving the primary absorption tower 10.
