Abstract

1391824 Laminates REVERTEX Ltd 31 May 1973 [2 June 1972] 25954/72 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Laminates may be prepared by bonding sheets of compositions comprising (1) an olefin polymer and (2) a liquid reaction product of an α,#-unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride with a liquid polybutadiene, to films, fabrics or webs of polymeric material under heat and pressure. The olefin polymer may be a polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene/propylene copolymer or ethylene/propylene/diene terpolymer. The unsaturated acid or anhydride may be maleic acid or anhydride, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or citraconic anhydride. The compositions may contain conventional fillers, extenders and vulcanizing ingredients. Examples describe the laminating of sheets of compounded EPDM rubber mixed with polybutadiene/maleic anhydride reaction products to (3) woven polyethylene terephthalate fabric and (4) polyethylene terephthalate film; and (5) the laminating of two polyethylene terephthalate films with an interposed sheet of compounded EPDM rubber mixed with polybutadiene/citraconic anhydride reaction product.
