1391224 Bridged ring alicyclic compounds ARAKAWA RINSAN KAGAKU KOGYO KK and NARD INSTITUTE Ltd 11 Oct 1972 [13 Oct 1971 21 Oct 1971] 46858/72 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C3 and D2] Novel compounds of Formulae I and II (in which each of R<SP>1</SP> to R<SP>6</SP> is H or CH 3 , each of R<SP>7</SP> to R<SP>10</SP> is H, C 1-6 alkyl or phenyl and X is CN, COOR or CONH 2 , R being H, C 1-6 alkyl, alkali metal or NH 4 ) are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula III with a conjugated diene of Formula IV and, if desired, hydrogenating the resulting compound I to form the corresponding compound II. Compounds III are prepared by reacting an appropriate cyclopentadiene with an appropriate unsaturated compound, e.g. acrylonitrile or methyl acrylate.
