Abstract
1391040 Load-bearing piles DYCKERHOFF & WIDMANN AG 28 March 1973 14968/73 Heading E1H A method of constructing a load-bearing pile comprises forming a bore 1, inserting a steel core member 3 into the bore, which member has an external helically ribbed surface, inserting an injection conduit 5 into the bore so that it extends substantially over the length of, and on opposite sides of member 3, introducing a billing material 2 into the bore 1, said material preferably being a cement mortar reinforced by mineral or plastics fibres, and, after the billing material has set but not hardened, injecting a compression material such as cement grouting via tube 5 and apertures 8 therein into the surrounding filling material and ground such that a compressed body is formed which extends around, and extends over the length of, core member 3. The cement grouting serves to consolidate the filling material and ground which it penetrates and secures the same firmly against the ground it cannot penetrate. Filling is carried out through opening 6 alone, with opening 7 closed, or through both openings 6, 7 simultaneously.
