Abstract

1390864 Anthraquinone dyes L B HOLLIDAY & CO Ltd 13 June 1973 [16 June 1972] 28219/72 Heading C4P [Also in Division D1] 1 - Amino - 2,3 - dicyano - 4 - butylaminoanthraquinone is obtained with small amounts of the 2- and 3-mono-cyano-derivatives by treating 1 - amino - 4 - butylaminoanthraquinone- 2-sodium sulphonate with potassium cyanide in water. 1 - Amino - 4 - bromoanthraquinone 2- sodium sulphonate is reacted with aqueous ethylamine to give the 4-ethylamino derivative which is reacted with potassium cyanide to yield the 2,3-dicyano-1-amino-4-ethylaminoanthraquinone dye. 1 - Amino - 4 - methylaminoanthraquinone- 2-sodium sulphonate is reacted with potassium cyanide to yield mainly 1-amino-2-cyano-4- methylaminoanthraquinone. Blue shades are obtained when transfer printing synthetic substrates.
