Abstract

1390652 Chucks; chuck operating mechanism PAUL FORKARDT KG 20 Sept 1972 [19 Oct 1971] 43514/72 Headings B3B and B3T A device for feeding fluid to a rotary double acting pressure cylinder, e.g. in or for a rotary machine tool chuck, comprises a stationary fluid feed ring 4 located in or on a rotary casing 1a, 1b the ring 4 having an annular recess in each axial face and a perforated annular diaphragm 9 mounted within each said recess, the ring 4 also having two fluid feed connections 6 each connected via internal borings to a groove covered by a respective diaphragm, the casing 1a, 1b being formed with, or supporting a ring member having annular sealing faces adjacent the diaphragms and respective grooves 8 and internal boring 11 which can be connected to respective sides of a piston, whereby in use fluid flows from a feed connection 6 to one side of a diaphragm 9 whereupon it is forced sealingly against a said sealing face and fluid passes through perforations in the diaphragm to the groove 8 and internal borings 11 to the pressure cylinder. The chuck is stopped from rotating before the pressure cylinder is actuated.
