Abstract
1390501 Resistance welding control systems PRESSED STEEL FISHER Ltd 13 June 1972 [13 March 1971] 6951/71 Addition to 1321838 Heading H2H A method of resistance welding according to the Specification 1,321,838 is extended to a multi-welder and includes monitoring the rate of change of the average weld resistance of all the welds formed by each group of simultaneously operating electrodes and allowing welding current to flow through the electrodes in each group for an additional time after the rate of change of the average weld resistance has reached a predetermined value, the additional time being computed as a function of the time for the rate of charge to reach the predetermined value. A voltage signal generator is connected to each pair of electrodes in each group and the voltage signals are fed to the multiple input of an averaging integrator so that an average voltage for each group of electrodes is produced. The output of the integrator and a signal proportional to the welding current flowing in the multi-welder are used to derive the average weld resistance.
