Abstract
1390248 Pressure indicators LEESONA CORP 14 Sept 1973 [15 Sept 1972] 43228/73 Heading G1L An indicator 12 for connection to a fluidpressure circuit, e.g. including a pneumaticallyoperable piston 42 and cylinder 40, to indicate the pressure therein comprises a chamber 22 communicating with the circuit and a body of compressible material 28 lying across the chamber, the material 28 having an aperture whose size varies as the material 28 is compressed according to the fluidpressure in the chamber 22, at least a part of the chamber wall, e.g. sheet 28, being transparent such that the portion of the material 28 around the aperture is visible from the outside to give an indication of the fluid-pressure. As shown in Fig. 1 a bank of such indicators 12a-12d may be provided each coupled to a different part of the circuit. The aperture in the material 28 of each indicator may take the form of crossed slits 36 and ports 38. Under pressure compression and deformation of the material 28 as depicted in the indicators 12b and 12d, exposes the interior 52 of chamber 22 which may be reflective or coloured as a visual aid. The compressible material 28 is preferably a closed cell elastomeric foam.
